Dreamcatcher Holistic Health Services

Connection to the Sea Program

The Connection to the Sea Program at Dreamcatcher Holistic Health Services is a community-driven initiative that aims to foster a deep and sustainable connection between Indigenous youth/young adults and the marine environment of Vancouver Coast Salish Territories. This program recognizes the importance of traditional practices, environmental stewardship, and the preservation of coastal traditions. It collaborates with local Indigenous guides to impart knowledge and skills to younger generations, enabling them to responsibly harvest from the local oceans.

Quote

"Cows run away from the storm while the buffalo charges toward it — and gets through it quicker. Whenever I’m confronted with a tough challenge, I do not prolong the torment, I become the buffalo."
- Wilma Mankiller
Wilma Mankiller (1945-2010) was a Native American activist, community organizer, and social worker. She was the first woman elected as Principal Chief of the Cherokee Nation.
